The PHP manual tells you to use the one from U. Washington, which is
the one in Pine. The manual tells you where to get it. Many people,
e.g. many Linux users, already have it as /usr/sbin/imapd.
But you don't need one specific to the client. A server is a server.
The only thing that is needed is for the client to support the
protocol, i.e. it needs to be a non-broken IMAP client.
Unless you are doing something unique, qmail (or sendmail) is not
relevant. It's needed to make e-mail work, i.e. to have messages for
the IMAP server to serve, but it operates independently of the IMAP
server.
