I remember seeing a mod_rewrite tip on phpbuilder.com at some point that
explains just such a thing. I can't find it now (but I didn't look very
hard.) The apache docs on mod_rewrite are great and should make all
things pretty clear.
One caution: Make sure that you are prepared for search engines spiders.
If you include session ids in the URLs so that they look unique static
files, you can get hit hard.
