Hi,
How about just using Apache (or whatever) to password-protect that
directory. I use this extensively on my site(s), and the "session" (not the
technical term) stays open long enough that you can hop around and not worry
about having to re-enter the password.
Sometimes the simple approach works. This may work for you...
