Hello,
Any one have any ideas on how to tell Netscape to Cache animate gifs and not RELOAD them from the server? Problem I have is that I've got all sorts of banners stored as BLOBS in MySql, and am calling them via <img src="/banner_show.php?SID=1&T=1" width="468" height="60" border="0" alt=""> tag. (SID=section T=type)
However, I noticed that when viewing my site with Netscape, the banners rotate! What I mean by rotate is that banner 1 will be called on the initial page view then once banner 1's animation is finished and it should loop banner 2 is then called then 3 and then back to 1. Meanwhile we only have 1 page view. This does not happen in IE or Opera. This problem has shot my ad impressions though the roof while totally killing my click thru ratio...
Inside my script I have 2 db calls. The first does a MIN querey to see which banner has been shown the least and the second is to update the IMPRESSION field of the record. The banner rotating is what it should do on each page view, not on the end of an animation cycle.
Anyhow... Is there anyway via headers or whatever to tell Netscape to pull the image from the cache and not reload it from the server?
On an aside... I've seen this problem before on sites using $60,000+ software... now I have an explanation to whats going on.
