mysql session handler

I came across this: http://gateway.digitaria.com/~chris/php/mysql_session_handler/ Is this the best approach to using MySQL to store session data rather than having PHP store the data using files in the /tmp directory? If so, could someone please give me a few instructions on how to install and use this handler? I'm fairly familiar with PHP and MySQL, just a little uncertain of how to proceed on this specific item. I've been looking all over the place and haven't found much information on it and would appreciate anything you could send my way =) Thanks! -Ed
