Don't you know that when you are submitting the query? There is no need to test imho. Hi all I have a function that wraps away all database-specific stuff by executing the query, reading the result and returning the result in an array. in Oracle i can determine the type of the query and just fetch the contents if it was a select. In mysql i get a warning if i try to fetch the result if the statement was an insert or update. i can supress the warning with a '@' but that sucks.... any hints? Sebastian
