Hi. I'm quite new in the list, so I don't know what were you try.
Here is my experience:
I downloaded and builded php4.3.1pl as module for Apache.
Then I wanted to use the last gdlib. I downloaded and build it, and went
to rebuild the php mod. It didn't work, and I had the same msg. as you
did: ImageCreateFromJPEG not supported in this build.
Here are all the things I had to do I was doing wrong:
I downloaded the jpeg-6b and build it.
I edited the makefile in the gdlib directory, since it doesn't include
the jpeg support as default. This include two lines:
CFLAGS=-O -DHAVE_JPEG
LIBS=-lm -lgd -lpng -lz -ljpeg
Then I ran 'make clean', and rebuild the gdlib.
I went to php dir, run the same 'make clean', rebuild the php mod, with the
options --with-gd=/usr/local/etc/dg --with-jpeg=/usr/local/etc/jpeg-6b
and the others options (change the dirs you need).
I went to Apache and rebuild it.
That's all.
I read somewere there is a hacked gdlib with both support for JPEG and
GIF, but I didn't try it on Linux, but it works fine in Windows.
Since I don't know much of english, I hope you can understand all the
written above.
