Hey all,
I recently decided to tryout mod_rewrite, which to my disappointment was
not compiled in as default, after a bit of messing around I totally
destroyed my apache installation :-( I then totally removed all source
and everything related to apache & php, and started the build process
from scratch:
untarred the distributions
edited apache_1.3.14/src/CONFIGURATION.tmpl
and added mod_rewrite
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/apache --enabled-shared=max
make
make install
configured php
./configure --with-apxs=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs \
--enable-trans-sid \
--enable-track-vars \
--disable-debug
make
make install
edited httpd.conf added the index file names and application types for
php
/usr/local/apache/apachectl start
Syntax error on line 226 of /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf:
API module structure `php4_module' in file
/usr/local/apache/libexec/libphp4.so is garbled - perhaps this is not an
Apache module DSO?
./apachectl start: httpd could not be started
does anyone have any idea on what I have done wrong, I have tried with
fresh installs three times, so i'm guessing there is something
fundamentally wrong with the way I am configuring apache?
Any help always appreciated,
Regards,
Joseph
