getting ftp functions to work

Hi, I need to utilise the ftp functions in PHP. I am using PHP3 (3.0.6) on apache server (1.3.6 win32), on NT. I have downloaded php3_ftp.dll from 3.0.17 distro on php. I have; 1. placed the php3_ftp.dll in the directory where all the other .dlls are namely c:\php 2. changed the pph3.ini file to add the line (;extension=php3_ftp.dll), 3. Sutdown apache server and restarted it but when I then run phpinfo() the ftp dll does not appear in the extensions caption and hence the ftp functions cannot be called. Is there some steps i am missing or is there some documentation somewhere i can see these steps laid out clearly?
