http://www.php.net/FAQ.php#6.9 6.9. It says to use: --activate-module=src/modules/php3/libphp3.a, but that file doesn't exist, so I changed it to --activate-module=src/modules/php3/libmodphp3.a and it doesn't work!? What's going on? Well, you decided to try to outsmart the people who wrote those nice step-by-step instructions for you and you have now discovered that these people cannot be outsmarted. The libphp3.a file is not supposed to exist. The Apache build process will create it. -----Original Message----- From: Marc Swanson [mailto:marcswanson@mediaone.net] Sent: Tuesday, November 28, 2000 7:20 AM To: Php-General@Lists. Php. Net Subject: [PHP] why would "libphp4.a" not be created? I replied to one of the responses to the thread about not being able to get imagecreatefromjpeg to work but It never reached my inbox.. So here is one of the possible problems I've got: In the manual it says that after php compiles and installs, you are supposed to find "libphp4.a" under the apache source route (that I pointed to with --with-apache=). However, this file is never created in my apache dir??? Instead, I have a "libmodphp4.a" file along with some other stuff in the src/modules/php4 directory under the apache source root, but if I try to --activate-module=src/modules/php4/libmodphp4.a it errors out.. So, how I have been able to compile is by copying "libmodphp4.a" to "libphp4.a". Is this a bad thing??? If so, why is php not creating libphp4.a??
