Then just fix up the placement afterwards:
$newarray=Array();
while ($row=mysql_fetch_array($result))
{
$newarray[$row["id"]]=$row;
};
for($i=0; $i < 6; $i++ )
{
$picresult[$i]=$newarray[$myotherpics[$i]];
};
Yes, it's two loops, but it's one query; YMMV.
