when inputting into a file use stripslashes()
I use it to write PHP files with PHP. Like for cloning navigations and
dynamic lists which script parameters are depending on request.

Even better... disable the magic_quotes_* settings in php.ini/httpd.conf
So far I haven't found a reason to have those options on... I rather use
addslashes() in the few cases I need to that using stripslashes() on almost
every string I touch.
