(user oracle is recomended to be used only for Oracle installation and maintainance) ORACLE_BASE=/u01/app/oracle ORACLE_HOME=$ORACLE_BASE/product/8.0.5 LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib TWO_TASK=$ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/tnsnames.ora (if RDBMS is in other server) or ORACLE_SID=<your sid> About privileges, give your $ORACLE_HOME a chmod 774 (everyone can read there...) To check it, by root do a "su - nobody" and then "export": you should see them. P.S.: my environment var are intended for Oracle8.0.5, but for other version changes are few... On my Linux box the PHP stuff will not work unless I run httpd as oracle!
