The problem will still remain as long as we have clients who don't want to change things. For example, I have on client who is scared to death that if we change anything that all his dated forum software will crater and I can't tell him that it won't. While it's nice to turn register register_globals, safe-mode, magic_quotes, and other such nonsense turned off, we will still have to deal with it on clients servers.
