Configure PHP as in the directions, only skip anything involving apache and
leave out that --with-apxs or --with-apache switch.
You'll get a stand-alone binary named PHP that you can call from the command
line.
Then use:
AddType application/x-httpd-php phtml
Action application/x-httpd-php /full/path/to/binary/php
