Why don't you want to use sessions? Just looking for a simpler way?
If you don't want to go that route, maybe you could use a form that doesn't
look like a form -- ie, make a submit button that looks like a link by
rendering the underlined link text as a graphic image, then using the
graphic submit button to trigger sending the form.
Or, could you divide the resulting query into, eg, ten distinct query type,
then pass a type code with the URL and include specific information, like
this:
eg <a href="b.php?qry='type10'&field1='description&field2='exact
phrase'&field3='widget tool'">click me!</a>
To me, state information that persists across HTTP requests calls for
implementation of sessions. I've spent today learning about that exact
feature of PHP, so if you want to bounce any questions off me, feel free.
