Cannot load /usr/local/apache/libexec/libphp4.so into server: /usr/local/apache/
libexec/libphp4.so: undefined symbol: uncompress
-------------------------------------------------
Has anyone else solved this problem? [i know it's a common problem, because it's all over the php list, but no working solutions so far!]
Only this...
netbsd alpha <netbsd_alpha@yahoo.com> SAID...
"you'll need to compile with the -lz flag and in some
cases, even define it in the env variable LIBS=-lz"
BUT WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?!?
-lz isn't a configure option!
And this...
http://www.phpbuilder.com/forum/read.php3?num=3&id=102105&thread=102044
"recompile php4. After executing the configure script find all Makefiles that contain -lmysqlclient and ensure that those lines also contain -lz (add it manually if neccessary). Then do the make, make install. (If you compile php4 with the configure parameter --with-apache then one of the files in the directory <apache-src>/src/modules/php4 contains the linker options. Make sure that it contains the -lz argument, too.) Important: If you do it the second way then all tools and software using the mysql client has to be checked for the -lz argument (especially the Msql-Mysql perl modules!). "
BUT WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?!? ANYONE?
I added a -lz to a Makefile where I found -lmysqlclient, but it didn't help.
I've built PHP4 *many* times, (even a month ago on this same server) and have never seen this problem.
Using newest binaries of MySQL, newest source of PHP4.0.3pl1, Linux Mandrake 7.1, Apache 1.3.14.
ANYONE?? ANY IDEAS??
Thanks!

This is the uncompress error that is in the mailling list archieves. Read all the items on how to fix it and can't figure it out.
Syntax error on line 210 of /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf: Cannot load /usr/local/apache/libexec/libphp4.so into server: /usr/local/apache/ libexec/libphp4.so: undefined symbol: uncompress libphp4.so exists, and is readable. There are no extra chars on the line, and the ini file is named php.ini located in /usr/local/lib/.
PHP Version: php4.0.3p1 OS: Slackware 7.1 PHP Config: ./configure --with-apxs=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs --with-mysql=/usr/local/ mysql Binary mysql version: mysql-3.23.27-beta-pc-linux-gnu-i686 Not trying to do magic and have installed this flawlessly on several other servers. Any ideas?
