Page not found when using session_start();

Hi there,
I am new to PHP and I am trying to use session handling for my web
application.
If I add the following line:
session_start();
The browser returns "Can't find server" when I load that page. If I comment
out that line, the page loads fine, but then I can't use session handling.
I am using Win2000, PHP4 and IE5.
What am I doing wrong?
