hi all,
We are nearing completion on core_template and will be starting on
core_error shortly.
I'll release everything as it reaches maturity. I expect core_template to be
out early to mid-next week.
There are a number of interesting (pre-existing) db abstraction classes
which we're reviewing.. we'll probably release a modified version of one of
them.
For those of you who have read the specification or part of it, I am
specifically interested in people's comments/concerns re: the code standard.
The reason I ask is because it will be changing somewhat in the near future,
and quite a lot more detail (and effort) will be put into that document.
Also, I will be reorganizing and finalizing everything in the specification
for the final Release 1 document, which should be done in about a week. A
lot of things had been chucked in as modules that shouldn't have been, and I
need to write some general usage documentation to give people an idea of
what the process will look like when building an application using
binarycloud. I'll probably write a little hoo-ha specifically on
localization issues.
A word on localization: as part of the new code standard, there will be a
'mandate' that no language-specific messaging or other sentence-like text
ever be put in source. everything should at the very least be stored in an
external file, more likely we will standardize on a centrall messaging
library specification I'm building.
Also, I have been spelunking in sourceforge, and there's alot more stuff out
there that there used to be :) If you own something on sourceforge that you
think would be a good part of binarycloud, please contact me. I'm _really_
into using existing good stuff, and helping people who already have things
working (but not necessarily done) along to completion.
If anyone has any contributions they would like to put in, or any comment on
the documentation, etc please let me know :)!
best,
-alex
