If you were running a popular website that's 100% PHP4 and Apache. FreeBSD 4.2.
... and it gets about 10,000 unique users, 150,000 hits a day. But you were expecting twice that much in a few months.
... and you were about to buy a new server, JUST for your PHP4/Apache side of things, (meaning: keeping MySQL on its own server)
Then what would you look for in hardware? (Yes price counts. Not deep $ here.)
Is it all about the RAM?
Is it all about the processor?
Is it the disk speed?
Is it truly 33% of each?
What does PHP4 need/use the most?
(note: we do lots of "include"s in our scripts. the rest are MySQL database calls)
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks!
