Acually this is VERY interesting. It appairs to me a very simple solution too easy not to be tought of before.. but in the FAQ of ZEND nothing about compiled code cache is mentioned. So this might well turn around being much faster than zend if you build your site using heavy libraries (which is the case for any serious use of php) ..
