Before I started with PHP my theory was that people whose code is visible, as javascript is, have no reason to keep it secret. But as PHP is hidden this theory had to be abandoned. Also, every day two people on the javascript ask how they can protect their code. So now i am looking for a new theory. Options: Maybe it has to do with PHP users being grateful for the free use of PHP and often free databases? A complot theory is that database programmers are quite religious about their favourite database, maybe they want to support others trying to use it so it becomes a standard? But that does not account for javascript (although there we have the browser brand/version wars). By the way if you want to try VBA for Word: the object model of MS Word is a nightmare! And the Help files are too coordinated by a pointed haired boss. Anyway i really like this list! I try to add my bit, hoping my beginner tips are not too disturbing. thanks everybody in this list!
