At the top of all pages requiring session support, add this: <?php start_session();?> Within a page, for each variable you want to propogate, add this: <?php session_register('foo');?> where 'foo' is the name of the variable. Once you have done that, $foo is a session variable, and will be stored/retrieved. Everything else is details about where the session data actually gets stored (ColdFusion doesn't really give you any choice about that, I don't think) and how the User's ID is sent from page to page (and I dunno how ColdFusion handles this, but I doubt that it's as flexible as PHP). In general, the PHP stuff is a bit more convoluted because it adds a great deal of flexibility. You have more control over when/where/how a variable gets stored/propogated through a session, and how a user's session ID is maintained and transmitted, but it is a bit of a mind-bender to see how that all fits together at first. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Blake Starkenburg" <blake@webintention.com> Newsgroups: php.general Sent: Wednesday, December 13, 2000 11:19 PM Subject: [PHP] Does This Support Exist In PHP > I have been working a little in ColdFusion and am very impressed with this > simple variable solution: "global.variable" or "session.variable" or > "form.variable".
