Also, when it reaches :
$a <= 'z'
z <= 'z'
z is treated as integer so is less then 'z' ? from manual i quote this :
$foo = "0"; // $foo is string (ASCII 48)
$foo++; // $foo is the string "1" (ASCII 49)
which to me seems to apply to the above, right? which would seem to make
them both strings, z=z, and stop.
i have to be missing something here and am looking forward to it clicking
into my brain.
