I have just answered a similar question a while ago. I host the PHP
Classes site (http://phpclasses.UpperDesign.com/) and other sites of mine
at Adgrafix since about 3 years ago.
For the time being I only have used their virtual hosting servers, but
still it was great because I had the freedom to build my own Web server
executable with whatever modules I wanted, with my own crontab processes,
with my own database servers (I have both MySQL and PostgreSQL running
there) as I am only limited by the assigned disk space and tasks that need
to be run by the root account.
If I need more, like using the server for heavy processing (mailing lists,
deep database scans and updates, etc..) I will need to upgrade to a dedicated
server, which I probably will some time soon. I have checked some cheap
dedicated server ISP and I was not pleased, so I will most likely stay on
Adgrafix as I will still have the support from their people and executive
accounts that are skilled also in PHP.
They have many options. If you are not sure which option suits your needs,
just mail me back so I can advise based on my experience. Look here for
the details:
