I'm not sure if this helps in your case, but I wrote some code to
display structured data and complex objects.
http://www.phpbuilder.com/snippet/detail.php?type=snippet&id=164
It's recursive and pretty handy for debugging.
Here's a sample output for a contrived object, but it can also display
using HTML lists and HTML tables:
t (array)
+ one = 1 (integer)
+ two = 2 (integer)
+ three (array)
| + 0 = a (string)
| + 1 = b (string)
| + 2 (array)
| | + 0 = e (string)
| | + 1 = f (string)
| | + 2 (object)
| | | + x = x (string)
| | | + y = y (string)
| | | + z (array)
| | | | + 0 = z0 (string)
| | | | + 1 = z1 (string)
| | | | + 2 (object)
| | | | | + x = x1 (string)
| | | | | + y (array)
| | | | | | + 0 = x1 (string)
| | | | | | + 1 = 2 (integer)
| | | | | | + 2 = 3 (integer)
| | | | | + z = 3.1415926535898 (double)
+ four (array)
| + 0 = c (string)
| + 1 = d (string)
