Choices I know of:
o Log all changes, and re-execute the same SQL. There are some packages
floating around for MySQL for this, I *think*...
o Allow only one database to change, and periodically use a complete
update/wipe.
o Pay for an expensive database package with custom replication
o Write a custom PHP script to compare data record-by-record and provide a
web-based interface for a human to resolve any discrepencies. I've done
this for a membership database, and spend an hour or so every month or two
(depending on when the other guy gets around to updating his FileMaker
database) resolving them pretty much by hand. Mostly cuz he's too
bull-headed to have the web-database the the only database. This solution
pretty much has to be custom-written for any applicaiton, since there are
too many variables about what constitutes a difference and which data should
be presented how, etc.
