multiple session environment

Hi All, at this moment I'm building a user/profile system. The main goal is to build a separated login system and a profilemanager. Now I'm wondering if it would be easy to use a apart session for the loginstory. But I'm afraid that this session won't work on a site where a another session is working after the user is logged in. Another way to use the login to create an user object which then can be put in the other session but because I'm running out of time I don't want to make some stupid decision which will cost too much time.
