Hi, I finally got PHP 4.04 installed and working with the Windows98 PWS
(took me a while to realize you need to copy PHP4TS.DLL to the Windows
folder!). I'm trying to write a script that uses simple DBM database
functions; I un-commented the extension=php_db.dll line in the php.ini and
was able to successfully execute the dbmopen() statement.
It seems, however, that DBM doesn't function correctly with Windows98. The
results I get back with the dbmfetch() command are pretty much garbage (for
example, if I write "Hello World" then fetch it back, it prints out
something like "ello World10". I have uploaded the same script to my
Linux/Apache server and it works perfectly, so I know my syntax is correct.
I did some searching around and found some posts about DBM on Windows being
buggy (although I would call the results I'm getting something beyond
buggy--more like totally unusable). Is there a more up-to-date php_db.dll
than the one that's distributed with PHP 4.04? Anyone have any other
suggestions?
