How much memory does PHP take?

Right now, my machine has a modperl (Apache::ASP) based site that serves
up 1.7 million hits per month.
Each Apache child process takes 5+ MB of memory because of the modperl
support. At peek times, the memory on the system (192 MB) gets
exhausted; I've used MaxClients to control it, but then the web server
responds slowly.
If I switched to PHP, how much memory would each Apache child process
take?
