Read through config.cache to see what it says about LDAP.
Most software, you provide the path to where you installed it... So
wherever you install LDAP is my best guess.
Sometimes, goofy installations like RedHat (and other "package" deals) end
up scattering the include and lib files throughout /usr/local -- In that
case, you just use /usr/local, and configure hopefully knows enough to go
rooting around in there to find what it needs.
You usually need to install the xxx-DEV.rpm package as well, so if LDAP has
one of those, install it.
