FATAL: emalloc() error

I'm trying to query an MS Access database via ODBC, but the odbc_exec
command fails with this error:
FATAL: emalloc(): Unable to allocate 2147483599 bytes
I don't know why it could possibly be trying to allocate 2GB, as the
database is only about 4MB. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
