.htaccess php configuration

Hi all... i know this is a bit off-topic, but maybe someone can help... i've already posted this to an apache newsgroup, but haven't heard anything back yet here goes... i am trying to setup some directives in a .htaccess file so i can configure php for my needs my isp tells me to do this, except when i try it, i receive an internal server error my error.log file gives messages like: <Directory not allowed here <DirectoryMatch not allowed here <Location not allowed here ... etc. ... here's my .htaccess file: ------------------------------ <Directory /home/cust1/usr1004/html/AdminTools> php3_upload_tmp_dir /tmp </Directory> AuthName "Sheep In A Heep Knit Shoppe, Inc." AuthType Basic AuthUserFile /home/cust1/usr1004/html/AdminTools/.htpasswd <Limit GET POST> Require valid-user </Limit> ------------------------------ i have researched and played with the syntax for many hours now, but with no luck does anyone know what i'm doing wrong? or is my isp preventing me from configuring directives in .htaccess files, and they're just giving me the run-around? anyone's help is GREATLY appreciated! thanks in advanced... - kevin kevin@creationsite.com
