You could also try and remove any other php-rpm:s in the system; Redhat has
had
some problems regarding dependencies between installed packages and doesn´t
always
take kind to You if trying to bypass its rpm-database. I know, I´ve tried.

Got Apache 1.3.9 (patched with SSL) + php4rc2 + mysql 3.22.23 running nicely
on my
Redhat 6.1.92-distribution, so it shouldn´t be impossible. *s*
