GD's png support only uses indexed color palettes, so you're limited to 8bit color. One possible option is to use php_imlib, which uses Imlib2 instead of GD for manipulating images. Since Imlib2 does everything in 32bit ARGB space, it'll do what you want. What I'm not sure about is if Imlib2 will build on Solaris.. http://mmcc.cx/php_imlib/ Matt
