Note: I was correct that fixing the user's 'name' field in the password
file fixed the problem, so the error no longer occurs.
I would still be interested in knowing how to keep my scripts from
crashing under those circumstances, however.
I've removed the test files listed above since there no longer is a
point to having them there. If you want, you can see good data at:
