It is what you're looking for, you just need to think it through a little. instead of > $chk_$row["field"] try $foo = "chk_" . $row["field"]; $bar = $$foo; or if you're trying to do something else, you may need $foo = "chk_" . $row; $bar = ($$foo)["field"]; as I'm not sure which order of execution you want to happen on that line, since it's not valid :) Gfunk - http://www.gfunk007.com/ I sense much beer in you.
