unstable execution of mysql_db_query($db, $myQuery)

I am using MySQL 3.22.32 and PHP 4.01PL2, but it seems that
mysql_db_query($db, $myQuery) is not quite stable, actually, in my code, it is like
mysql_db_query($db, $myQuery) or die "Something wrong during query");
1 out of 15 (the same query), it will "die".
Does anyone have any suggestion?
