Christopher-- Thanks so much for the URLs but they are hardly complete and not at all succinct. I supposed the POSIX REs because that's what I thought the PHP docs said. PCREs are good too? Sure seems like the PHP docs would include this don't you think? They do. See "Regular expression functions (Perl compatible)".
Let me rephrase: --I interpreted the PHP manual to suggest POSIX over Perl. Minor comment. --I believe the PHP docs should include a comprehensive, succinct list of regex expressions. Major comment. It was about this that I was saying "Sure seems like the PHP docs would include this don't you think?" Sorry for the confusion.
