What you put in between the <textarea ...> and the </textarea> is what you
get.
Tabs, spaces, newlines, spiders and snakes and all.
If you don't want it there, don't put it there.
Since that messes up your indenting, for your editor, maybe you could do:
<?php
$text = "Line 1\nLine2\n";
?>
<textarea ...><?php echo $text;?></textarea>
so you can squeeze it all on one line.
Or some variant on this idea.
