Hi,
it's possible to compile both PHP3 and PHP4 into the same Apache binary
using --enable-versioning configure flag, read more about it in the Install
file in the PHP4 source distribution (it's at the very end of the file).
Then just setup two name-based virtual hosts (Apache docs are quite clear on
how to do that) and you're up and running. I don't see that much point in
having two separate apaches with separate configuration files as the
configuration directives don't interfere between versions and you can
configure almost everything in the <VirtualHost> context.
