images problem

i uses the following method to display an image draw from database..

$result = @MYSQL_QUERY($query);
$data = @MYSQL_RESULT($result,0, "diagram");

i have problem getting the images size....
dose anyone know?
i had tried almost all ways i know of.. to using images functions from
the GD lib..
