You have some tag like
<a href="http://foo.bar/"
target="_new">link</a>
and strip_tags() transforms this to
<a href="http://foo.bar/">link</a>
?
Or what do you mean with that?

No. Just plain no. See my example above. The stuff in quotes was kept
without any problems.
