Session problems

On whichever php3 page I try to make sessions using
the following code :

session_start();
session_register("user");
?>
I'm getting the following error:
Warning: Cannot send session cookie - headers already
sent in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\php\index.php3 on line 8
Warning: Cannot send session cache limiter - headers
already sent in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\php\index.php3 on
line 8
please help me.
