Hi Chris,
The Zend Encoder does what you've described (compiles your php script so if you look at the
source, you see just "garbage").
To encode files with the Zend Encoder, you don't need anything but the Encoder itself.
To run the encoded files you need to have the Zend Optimizer. The people you program the components
for will need to install it on their server (it is freely available for download at http://www.zend.com/store/products/zend-optimizer.php).
