Finding linefeeds in Strings

String functions like explode, strpos or str_replace seem to fail when
asked to work with "\n".
What can i do to tokenize or explode a string by linefeeds?
i replaced "\n" by another expression and it seems to work, but i'm
curious if there's a mor elegant solution...
