If you've got asp-style tags enabled in your PHP configuration (see
http://www.php.net/manual/en/configuration.php#ini.asp-tags

info) then the syntax turns out to be just the same (see
http://www.php.net/manual/en/language.basic-syntax.php
for more info on
that.)
