how do I delete session

Hi all I wen tto check manual, not quite get it though. I have set up session and I want that deleted, but it did not work so far with session_unset or session_unregister. I figure I may have used them incorrectly here is what i did <?php session_start(); global $name; $name = "foo"; session_register("name"); ....... session_unregister("name"); ?> It appears to me that the value is still there all the time, unles I close the browser. what did I do wrong??
