Passing large numbers of variables..

This was brought up on PHPBuilder, but hasn't gotten a lot of responses and probably isn't going to since it's pretty far down the page, so I'll bring the topic up here. I have a form with 40 or so variables, some arrays, etc etc. I want to pass this to a preview page before submitting it to the db.. what's the best way? Using 40 or so hidden variables seems inefficient, but so does using a session and registering all the variables.. both kinda suck. Any other suggestions?
