Hello,
I am not sure if this is the right list for this issue. If there is a
better list, or this issue has been covered elsewhere, please let me know.
It relates to using forcetype on freebsd with php files. I am writing to a
php list because I THINK the issue may be with php. (I am not sure what is
generating the error message - php I think) And one has to start
somewhere.
I quote from an article from popular php site
http://phpbuilder.net/columns/tim20000526.php3
"Now if you don't have access to your httpd.conf file, you can also try
the <files > directive in a .htaccess file. Hundreds of people ran into
this stumbling block in the past 16 months. It appears that this method
only works on Linux, as people are reporting trouble on FreeBSD and
Windows. If you find an .htaccess solution on Windows, let me know.
Sample .htaccess file:
<Files local>
ForceType application/x-httpd-php3
</Files>
The question is, given that Apache/php should run the same on Linux and
freeBsd, how do i make it work on FreeBSD. I am on a virtual host and
don't have access to my httpd.conf file.
http://www.xxxxx.com/mayinc/city/fukuoka/restaurants/
this is my .htaccess file in the directory "city"
ForceType application/x-httpd-php3
I want the script called fukuoka to execute when I access the following url
http://www.xxxxx.com/mayinc/city/fukuoka/restaurants/
(The restaurants "directory" does not exist - the fukuoka script grabs the
$REQUEST_URI and uses its values for the database.)
On a freebsd box I get the error
>Fatal error: Unable to open
/usr/home/mayinc/public_html/city/fukuoka/restaurants/ in - on line 0
>No input file specified.
It IS acknowledging the script fukuoka , but not executing it (if I type
the url with "london" in the place of "fukuoka", it gives me a file not
found error - which is correct. Having fukuoka in the directory is having
SOME effect.)
Question: is this a php error message? (If not, I am on the wrong list....)
It all works fine on my development box, which is Linux.....
accessing http://www.xxxxx.com/mayinc/city/fukuoka runs
the script
perfectly....
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Nick
